In BC, onsite sewage systems fall under the Sewerage System Regulation. A system must be designed and installed by an Authorized Person — a Registered Onsite Wastewater Practitioner (ROWP) or a Professional (P.Eng./P.Geo.) — who files the plans with the health authority (in Langley, Abbotsford and the Fraser Valley, Fraser Health) before construction, and submits a letter of certification with as-built records after install. Municipal building permits may also apply.
